So, what prompted me to do this project? When my wife was pregnant with our first child, I felt as prepared and
ready to raise a child as I thought I could be. After all, my sister and all of my friends had baby boys I gained
experience with. When she gave birth, and the nurse told me 'You have a healthy baby girl', I was thrilled to hear the
word 'healthy' but realized I had no experience with baby girls."

In 1989 I searched for books for new fathers and found there were very few books available in that category...and
nearly none for fathers on raising girls. Needless to say I learned on my own, but not always successfully. I recognized
through the process that my daughter not only learned from me, but I from her as well."

One year ago, I was in a bookstore and happened by the Maternity/Parent section and once again could not find
anything on this subject and this idea was born.

I thought I would put a book together on a father's guide to parenting a daughter. I decided it to be in the format of
'Chicken Soup' series because I feel that the best way to learn is from others who have been there before. Plus I
wanted to give men the opportunity to share their stories and daughters the opportunity to honor their fathers, all while
providing this information in a fun, creative, poignant way.

The working titles of the books are "Raising Daughters; A Guide to Fathers" and "Raising Fathers; A Guide to
Daughters"

the books. The final determination of that resides with Harry Shade, owner and CEO of Rare Sense Unlimited.

Can you tell me more about the project?

  • each submission should be between 1 and 3 pages in length.
  • each submission should include a lesson or lessons that was learned by the author.
  • each submission must be in Word Format and accompanied by a bio, application and signed consent form.
  • each author will be given full credit for the submission with their information in the Bio section of the book.
  • each submission will earn the author 1% of the net proceeds of the book, this is after all marketing/publication
    expenses have been paid..
  • each book will have 100 entries, with me and my daughter providing one entry per book, which leaves 99
opportunities to be in the book.
  • once we have 100 entries, the book will be published and we will then seek the next 99 entires for the next
    book in the series.
  • the plan is to continue to publish books as we get enough entries.
  • authors can take their 1% as income or donate any portion to one of five charities supporting girls as identified.
  • 50% of my 1% personal proceeds will be donated to one or more of the five identified girls charities.
